The Teen’s Guide is a series of strategy journals that target common mental health challenges; delivered through an online community based platform. The Teen’s Guide will give young people access to a range of evidence based resources (e.g. written material, activities and videos) to help young people manage their individual mental health journeys.
The resources will be accessible 24/7 on any device, making it easier for teens to get help whenever they might need it. This will be particularly helpful for young people who are not able to access traditional face-to-face services due to waiting lists, stigma or finances.
The Teen’s Guide aims at targeting young people who are not traditionally consumers of mental health services but have some emerging mental health symptomatology due to current societal stressors. Our main goal is to increase our youth’s coping skills to manage their emerging mental health problems in order to improve their general well-being.
Rates of reported mental health challenges have increased significantly among adolescents in the last 3 years.
Almost one in four young people experience mental health challenges, yet these remain largely unrecognised and untreated
Over 50% of mental health issues develop before the age of 14 years. Therefore early intervention is key.
Young people with psychological distress are unlikely to seek traditional face-to-face services due to difficulties accessing these services as well as the social stigma associated with these services.

Here at Strength Potential we are passionate about helping young people use their Strengths to reach their full potential, and our drive is to help young people thrive. Over the last few years as we have worked with young people through our mentoring service, we have noticed that there is a long wait time for psychologists and counsellors. This means the support young people need for their mental health is not easily and readily accessible and available for lots of young people.
This is why we are seeking to build an online platform that can resource members in our communities such as teachers, chaplains, guidance officers, psychologists and counsellors as well as provide an online community for young people struggling with mental health challenges. Our goal is for this online platform to be easily and quickly accessible through an online format so that members of the community can access it as well as young people. We will be working with a team of trained psychologists and teachers to ensure the content is thoroughly researched and up to date.
